Open from 11am-5pm. Watch the Mayor open the festival here and enjoy a steel band, a fire juggler and musical entertainment. If you are feeling hungry drop in for a bite between visiting the many Festival attractions. Theres Burger King, Spudulike, Tchibo Coffee shop, Bhs restaurant and Mange Tout sandwich bar. A 45 minute Heritage Healthy Walk will take place in Russia Dock Woodland, organised by qualified fitness walkers. We will be meeting at the Downtown Road entrance at 1400. See you there! N.B. your comfortable shoes.
The Pumphouse Educational Museum houses the Rotherhithe Heritage Museum, a collection from the foreshore of the River Thames dating from Roman times and telling the story of Rotherhithe and its people. The first floor holds 3 exhibitions, the 1950s, The Blitz Room and artefacts from homes of the 20th Century. The second floor houses the six foot replica of the Queen Elizabeth II wedding cake, classroom and childrens reference library. The Thames Tunnel is one of the worlds great engineering feats, and the oldest section of the oldest underground system in the world! Join in the storytelling, line dancing, a Victorian melodrama, or Love in a Tunnel, Sea Shanties and working songs by Skinners Rats. Open House: The library houses a collection of visual reference materials classified by subjects: from Armchairs to Zebras . Festival buses start at 12 noon from Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, then about every 15 minutes until 5 pm.
